Product Description

Oneroot - Organic. Single-Source. Canadian. What sets us apart? We all love the sweet taste of honey. But do you know where your honey comes from and how it's processed? The majority of honey in the market are mixed with cheaper honey known to be contaminated and mixed with syrup[1][2]. Regulations exist to limit or ban contaminated honey, but the big companies find ways to launder them into our markets.[2] We wanted natural honey harvested using only ethical and organic beekeeping methods. We traveled across Canada, looking for the cleanest land for honey bees. And we are confident we have the best honey Canada has to offer. Honey from the North Honey harvested from colder climate is known to have higher concentration of its natural health benefits. Cold climate is less prone to diseases, and thus allows for organic beekeeping methods without the use of antibiotics or chemicals. We only bottle unpasteurized raw honey from clean floral sources. Never Mixed or Blended Our honey is always from a single source. It is never mixed with other honey. We believe honey should be appreciated for its local unique flavour and aroma. All of our honey is 100% traceable, and that means we can pinpoint which area and which flowers the honey came from. With most brands of honey, distributors and even the producer will not be able to tell you where their honey came from because they've been blended with barrels of outside honey. Taste the difference Try our honey straight from the beehive and experience the true taste of Northern Canadian Honey. No Use of Antibiotics. Never Heated. Active Enzymes. Pure Raw Buckwheat Honey from certified organic buckwheat fields of Northern Ontario, Canada. Buckwheat honey has a strong aroma of malt and molasses. It is rich in polyphenol antioxidants which gives its dark colour. Clinical studies have shown buckwheat honey to be an effective remedy for cough and sore throat. Buckwheat honey has the highest levels of antioxidants of any honey. Its antimicrobial activities are found to be higher than manuka honey. Tested for Antibiotics and Pesticides All of our honey are free of antibiotics. Because our honey comes from unpolluted northern Canadian regions, we are able to keep our bees healthy without the use of antibiotics. OneRoot honey is annually tested through University of Guelph Laboratory Services to test for presence of antibiotic and pesticides.[3] Read more Comparison to Manuka and Other Types of Honey Research shows us that buckwheat honey has more than twice the amount of phenolic compounds than any other honey, including manuka honey, thus showing a higher antioxidant activity [4][5][6]. Buckwheat honey also shows similar [4][6] or higher [7] level of anti-microbial properties than manuka honey. This makes Oneroot buckwheat honey ideal for consumption of antioxidants as well as for topical use. Primary purpose for purchasing the raw honey was at the recommendation of our PCP due to leg ulcers that developed after surgery. All over-the-counter products failed to clear them up. With one application of Root's buckwheat raw honey, a noticeable improvement occurred. We followed with 3 more treatments and the ulcers cleared up completely. To our amazement, we decided to try this highest rated anti-oxidant raw honey on some toast, and to our amazement, we loved the flavor. Now, to be honest, the flavor will not be for everyone. It is stronger than most. But, we felt that if it's curing factor could work wonders on the outer legs, it could help with our overall health on the inside too.Delicious and very smooth flavor. Great for soothing sore throats; one tablespoon does the trick.I actually quite like the flavor, but it also has that overlay of a musty taste. I don't know what that is, I know I have come across it a few times when I've purchased local honeys, so I am assuming that it is not a constant with every "batch" of honey. As long as I'm eating this in/with something the musty taste is not to noticeable. This one is also a bit on the runny side, but that isn't an issue for me. I will probably re-order sometime in the future to see if it has moved away from the musty taste. This has now been put on auto delivery. It really is helping with a general overall feeling but mostly, it's helping my husband with his bad ankle. Always extremely swollen. Not any more. We take this everyday before we even have coffee so we won't forget.I love this honey! We used it for our toddlers cough since they can’t have cough syrup and it works! Gave about 2.5 ML twice a day! What I like about it, and why I plan to buy it again:(1) It is liquid, with no sign of crystallization at the bottom of the jar.(2) It has a taste of its own: some honey I have tried were just sugary, without any particular taste. Those I found to have a taste of their own were: coriander honey (if you can get it -- try Yummy Bazaar in New Jersey), linden honey (I buy the Breitsamer brand, widely available, Amazon or your local stores), chestnut honey (check Mira Nova on Amazon; also Giannetti or Rigoni di Asiago, both from Italy), and honeydew honey, aka forest honey (a category that includes pine honey, fir honey, oak honey, beech honey, etc., in addition to "forest honey" which I assume is a blend of honeys from several sources - check what Amazon has to offer).(3) It is definitely far better than the other buckwheat honeys I tried (Sandt, Goshen, etc.)(4) It comes in a glass jar: this may matter if you take your time eating the whole jar.July 11, 2021 - I ordered, and just received another jar. The glass jar came in a cardboard box on which there was a label: "BBD May 13, 2026", which means that it is fresh honey. Now, I know that honey never goes bad, but I happen to like mine liquid, without crystallization, i.e. without the need to fuss over it to bring it back to the liquid state (if possible). I have a few other jars (three on the kitchen counter) that I want to finish first, and then it's going to be chestnut honey and buckwheat honey for me, with a jar of linden honey to sweeten my tea.Don't be afraid, try it!Honey is delicious! Can't see how anyone would not like this honey. Deep rich flavor. I requested this as a gift for Father's Day and I am not sorry at all about getting it. Top Notch!!If you’re a honey lover and haven’t tried buckwheat honey, you should! Honey will take on the subtle notes of the plant materials that the bees have harvested from, so there’s endless variations. This buckwheat honey has a sort of malty, even slightly molasses-y flavour that distinguishes it from your average wildflower honey. It may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but I love the extra richness that it’s been adding to my drinks and a little goes a long way.My primary intention for this honey, however, was to use it on my skin. I prefer to use only natural products for skincare, and honey really is one of the best things you can use to achieve supple, nourished skin. I was debating between buckwheat and manuka, but read that buckwheat honey was actually more effective in treating dry skin and patchiness, which are my main skin concerns. I’ve been giving myself a honey mask before my nightly shower all week, leaving it on for about 10-15 minutes before I hop in. It slides right off with warm water and my skin feels insanely soft and supple and it’s been helping to maintain moisture. I’m hoping with prolonged use it will help fade some acne scars, I will edit to add if anything happens on that front. It is a little costly, but the quality is great and you don’t need a lot. It’s a definite repurchase for me once I run out!I am a honey lover. Grew up in a farm where I had access to honey every day. I have tried many brands in Canada, constantly changing to find the one that matched that unpasteurized and wild flavour from my younger years...an this one exceeded my expectations. It is a flavourful honey, great consistency and does not leave that rich heavy aftertaste that most packaged honeys do. Absolutely amazing and delicious. Will not look for a different brand...this is the one!I bought this money for my face and not actually to eat. It smells slightly strong and I did try a small amount when I opened it. The taste is a little bit strong for a honey but that is to be expected with the dark colour. It works great on my face though and I have already noticed results. It is a great antimicrobial and I have already noticed reduced scarring since I started using it. My face also feels clean after using. I use as a mask for 5-10 mins and rinse off in the shower. Would buy again.I have gone out of my mind trying to fix my throat. It feels torn from all the coughing. I quit smoking, finally, for what I pray is the last time, on February 14 of this year. I ordered this honey because it is less expensive than Manuka and seems equally, if not more, potent. Well, it's beautiful. Looks golden. They warn it will taste bad; it doesn't. I take a spoonful a few times a day, and I also put it in my tea and coffee. On top of that, it's a Canadian company, which makes me happy. Home grown raw honey. Thank you.My husband is the expert on Buckwheat Honey that’s the only Honey he eats. He was disappointed with the flavour, said it was overpowering to the point of tasting “off.” He didn’t like the small size jar either. When I told him what I paid for it. ? “For that little jar? Are you Crazy? Don’t buy it again please, don’t waste your money.”
