Guys have rules. Rule #1: You don't date your sister’s best friend. Bentley Sullivan hasn't found the one. He's always been the good guy - the gentleman. With one quick, and possibly irrational, decision everything changes. After a case of mistaken identity and a drunken kiss, Ben is convinced that the one is finally right in front of him. Only, she's untouchable. Girls have rules. Rule #1: You don't date your best friend’s brother. Piper Lawrence has not been successful in love. Almost as quickly as she swears off men, he comes into her life. Her childhood crush and the man who has set the standards for every man she’s ever dated, he is also the one man she can’t have. A single kiss changes it all.
This was my first book by Andrea Johnston. I was drawn to the book by the title, the cover, and the blurb. Can't go wrong when so much about it seems appealing, right?Yes, absolutely right. This story. My word, I adored this story. From the very first page until the end, I was hooked. Couldn't put it down. Didn't want to put it down, even to sleep. I read while I was cooking, eating, and before bed. It is one of the sweetest stories I have ever read.First we meet Ben. Sweet, cowboy Ben. He's the nice guy. He is described perfectly and has been added to the list of book boyfriends. He's not the bad boy gone good, he's legitimately the good guy throughout the entire story. He's the kind of guy you want in real life. The forever kind of guy. And his being a teacher only makes him more desirable.Piper is a lot like most women. She's been jilted by love, so she's afraid of what Ben offers her. She doesn't believe she deserves it, and her awful mother doesn't help in regards to showing support. But Piper is also loyal as hell, and she fears that hooking up with her best friend's older brother will end their friendship. There's no way it couldn't. And Ashton isn't exactly the type to let something like this slide.I love that Ben and Piper's story focuses on the feelings and the long term desires rather than just the sex. Don't get me wrong, there are some steamy scenes where I needed to take a moment, but they aren't drawn out.Whiskey & Honey reminds you that there are good guys out there who want more than just a roll in the hay. Although, Jameson seems to be doing just fine in the hay. He was my favorite side character and I would absolutely love a story about him. I felt like there was something between him and Ashton, but the story focuses more on Ben and Piper, as it should. Maybe this means we'll get another book about them. I can honestly I can't wait for that.I'm not much for hashtagging, but #TeamBiper is certainly one I can get behind.
