Around 3 or 4 years ago, my wife gave me this "no-drip" oil dispenser as a Christmas gift. I had complained for so long about oil mess from our old cruet bottle, and she had finally heard enough! Neither of us knew for sure whether or not it would live up to its drip-proof claim.Well, I'm very happy to say it did! I've used it countless times to add oil to fry pans for pancakes, steaks, fried potatoes and much more. I've also used it to add oil to measuring cups and, of course, salads. Never once has any oil at all ever dripped down the side of the container!! I got many fancy gifts that Christmas day, but I confess that this oil cruet is my hands-down favorite!So, then, why did I title this review using the words "almost perfect"? Well, after the first oil refill, it leaked down the sides of the bottle from the bottom edge of the screw-on lid. I discovered It's all about that silicone gasket used to seal the lid to the bottle. Imagine a slippery silicone gasket. Now, imagine it coated in oil while trying to push it into its snug trench all around the lid. Yeah! Not easily done. It refuses to go in flat and firmly all the way. When the cap was screwed back on, the gasket was apparently kinked somehow.The only way I can get it to remain flat and firmly into the trench is to set it in place, and then to gently push it into the trench, a little bit at a time, with a teaspoon handle. But then the lid must be turned right-side-up to screw onto the bottle. I do that VERY slowly and carefully, so the gasket won't give in to gravity and fall back out.So, yeah, that's a pain-in-the-arse. But, once I knew how to do it successfully, I decided it was worth the trouble to finally have such an attractive and truly drip-proof oil dispenser.
